Eric Chernyakhovsky

Eric Chernyakhovsky is a college soccer coach with former European league and NCAA Division I playing experience.

From 2005 - 2007, he was chosen to be part of a select group of United States players (SuperClubs National Team), who traveled to England to play against professional youth academies such as Tottenham Hotspurs, Charlton, Stoke, Birmingham City, etc. In the summer of 2008, he went on a week long trial with Go Ahead Eagles' reserve team (Netherlands/ 2nd division). Upon returning stateside he finished off the summer by playing with the prestigious USL U-20 FC New York team, before attending Iona College (NCAA Divison I) in the fall.

 

In 2010, Eric played for KFC Duffel in Belgium. During his time abroad he also had the opportunity to train/ trial with KVC Westerlo (Belgium/ 1st Division) and Royal Antwerp FC (Belgium/ 2nd Division).

 

Following his return to New York, he now wanted to focus on coaching. While continuing coaching at Dynamo Soccer Club, in 2013 he also became a scout and coach for the SuperClubs National Team - the same program that allowed him the opportunity to have his first taste of European competition. He continues to hold this role today.

 

In 2014, he was named Assistant Men's/ Women's Coach at St. Joseph's College. For the 2015 season at St. Joseph's College, Eric was promoted to the role of Head Women's Soccer Coach.

Men's Head Coach at Kingsborough Community College

 

A native of Ukraine, Chernyakhovsky was a goalkeeper in the prestigious youth professional academy of FC Dynamo Kiev. At 16 years old, he had two offers from both FC Spartak Ivano-Frankivsk and SKA Kiev, 2nd division sides at the time, as a reserve team goalkeeper, but declined both to stay in the FC Dynamo Kiev academy. In 1978, he was selected to the under-18 Soviet Union National Team pool.

 

Chernyakhovsky then left Europe and moved to Pittsburgh in 1980. After spending five years in the Steel City, Chernyakhovsky moved to Brooklyn. He received his USSF National-A coaching license and was the Cosmopolitan Junior Soccer League Select Boys under-13 coach.

 

In 1999, he founded Dynamo Soccer Club for youth and adults in Sheepshead Bay, New York which he still operates. Along with the Club, Chernyakhovsky has coached at the Empire State Games for the women’s scholastic under-17 team for the past four years. Chernyakhovsky also maintains his international roots by coaching the Super Club National Team. Players from around the United States gather in Kansas City, Missouri before departing to play in England in August. Chernyakhovsky has coached all age groups of the Super Club National Team from under-14 through under-18.

 

In 2011, he was hired by St. Joseph's College to create a Men's and Women's soccer program. Within a year, the Women's team had won the HVIAC conference and the Men's team clinched their first playoff berth in 2014. In 2016 Chernyakhovsky moved on to Kingsborough Community College, where he currently holds the Men's Head Coaching position.
